My favorite thing about being a teacher is getting to experience those “aha” moments with my students—when something finally clicks and you can see their confidence light up.
My name is Taylor O’Brien, and I’m in my fourth year of teaching. I currently teach 4th grade at the same elementary school I attended, which has been such a full-circle experience. It’s incredibly meaningful to be back in the place that first inspired me to become a teacher. I graduated from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign with my bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and earned my ESL endorsement. I also recently completed my master’s degree in teacher leadership. In my current district, I’m part of the curriculum planning team and technology team, and I also coach cheerleading at the middle school. I grew up in the south suburbs of Chicago and recently moved to Downers Grove.
Outside of teaching, you’ll usually find me walking my puppy, Ryder, working out, reading, or shopping.I’m passionate about creating a positive, comfortable learning environment, and I’m excited to help your student grow, learn, and feel confident along the way!
